The 26th International Travel Trade Fair “Balttour 2019” that brought together in the Kipsala International Exhibition Centre 860 tourism industry companies from across the world successfully closed on February 3.
The fair was attended by 28,050 visitors willing to find out about the opportunities to travel Latvia or the world, to discover new routes, to buy a trip for themselves and family.The leading travel agencies and tour operators presented their best deals in a three-day travel market in the “Balttour 2019” thematic hall “Discover the World!”! Visitors had not only an opportunity to buy trips to destinations in almost 200 countries, but also to get information on the newest tourist attractions around the world. Apart from such well-known tour operators as Tez Tour, Novatours, Kidy Tour, Alida Tours, Mouzenidis, Begonija and other the new tour operators in Latvian tourism market – Itaka and TUI were represented at “Balttour 2019”. The fair provided an opportunity to get information on tourism opportunities in the neighbouring countries – Estonia and Lithuania –, moreover, the number of participating companies from these countries this year was considerably higher than before – almost 70 participants from Estonia and 50 participants from Lithuania. Georgia was represented at “Balttour 2019” after short gap. Exotic destinations presented at “Balttour 2019” to be mentioned were the Seychelles, Thailand, Cuba, Indonesia and Vietnam. “Balttour 2019” was an opportunity to discover not only tourism opportunities, but also cultural differences, national cuisine, costumes, songs and dances of different countries!
Visiting the thematic hall “Travel Latvia!”, visitors could learn about new places of interest in all regions of Latvia. Participants from Zemgale, Vidzeme, Latgale and Kurzeme had prepared variety of creative workshops to test visitors’ knowledge and skills in making pretzels or soap and writing with a feather quill! Visitors could test their cycling speed, play football, air hockey and board games. The major SPA centres and hotels of Latvia launched quite attractive offers. Throughout the three event days, local tourism experts impressed visitors with countless new routes and tourist attractions. Moreover, an extensive programme of events was held on the Balttour Main Stage!
Organisers presented awards to Zemgale Planning Region for the broadest representation of the region, Green Railway for the most sustainable and ecological tourism product, while Estravel Latvia – for stable values.
